As Israeli warnings intensify, residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs are now being urged to evacuate multiple times a day.
With Israel entering the next phase of its ground operation, the pace of military activity has escalated. According to the Israeli security source Israel Hayom, the Israeli army is preparing to establish buffer zones inside Lebanese territory.
Meanwhile, Israeli Deputy Chief of Staff, General Amir Baram, declared, “We will not return to the security situation that existed before October 8.”
On Thursday morning, Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army’s Arabic spokesperson, issued another urgent warning for residents in Beirut’s Ghobeiri, Choueifat, and Amrousiye neighborhoods.
“You are near Hezbollah-linked facilities that the Israeli army will soon target. For your safety and that of your families, evacuate these buildings and move at least 500 meters away,” Adraee announced on X (formerly Twitter).
Earlier Thursday, heavy bombardments struck Beirut’s southern suburbs, particularly in the districts of Haret Hreik and Bourj al-Barajneh, with drones continuously flying over the capital.
South Lebanon Under Fire
The situation is equally tense in southern Lebanon.
On Thursday morning, Israeli artillery targeted areas around Majdel Zoun, Naqoura, Chamaa, Bazouriyeh, and Mansouri following a Wednesday night strike on the village of Jmeijme, which caused multiple casualties.
Israeli airstrikes on Ghaziyeh, Ain Qana, and Yohmor destroyed four residential buildings, and an Israeli attack on a motorcycle in Yohmor el-Chaqif killed its driver.
Two additional raids struck Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Bint Jbeil, and further attacks hit the Deir and Roueiss neighborhoods in Nabatieh, though no casualties were reported. Other airstrikes hit villages, including Ainata, Baraachit, Safad al-Batikh, Hanin, Froun, and Kfar Remman.
Several villages, such as Chebaa, Tebnine, Bourj Qalawieh, and Arabsalim, also came under attack, killing three civilians.
Additional attacks on Aaramta (Jezzine) claimed two lives, while one more person was killed in Bayad (Nabatiieh).
Additional strikes were reported in Bint Jbeil, Deir Zahrani, Majdel Selem, Tiri, Tayr Harfa, Zefta, Yater, and Kfarjoz, with artillery also bombarding Arnoun, Yater, Beit Yahoun, Kounnin, and Ainata. Even the Litani River near Blat (Marjeyoun) was targeted.
Hezbollah Responds
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for missile attacks on gatherings of Israeli forces south of Odeisseh (Marjayoun) and in Sa’sa in northern Israel. It also reported targeting Israeli forces near Bint Jbeil and Maroun al-Ras using Nasr 1 rockets.
For its part, the Israeli army announced early Thursday that it detected ten missiles launched from Lebanon. Israeli media reported rocket impacts in Ma’alot, Galilee, and the sounding of sirens in Avirim and Ma’alot-Tarshiha in Upper Galilee.
