Taylor Swift triumphed at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester, winning four trophies in a ceremony dominated by female artists like Tyla and Sabrina Carpenter, who were among the night’s biggest winners. Taylor Swift, unable to attend, expressed gratitude.

Taylor Swift led the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards held in Manchester on Sunday, November 10, winning four awards during a night dominated by female artists, including Tyla and Sabrina Carpenter.  At this 30th edition, which brought together the biggest names in global music to northwest England, Taylor Swift claimed trophies for Best Artist, Best Live, Best US Act, and Best Video for her collaboration with Post Malone on Fortnight.

In a pre-recorded message, the singer expressed regret at not being able to attend in person but described the honor as "just unbelievable." Tyla took home three awards, including Best R&B, while Carpenter won for Best Song. British singer Rita Ora hosted the event, which marked the seventh time the ceremony has been held in Britain. Currently on her record-breaking Eras tour, Swift had been nominated in seven categories, following the release of her 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department, earlier this year.

In the Best Artist category, Taylor Swift competed against fellow American stars Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, and Post Malone, as well as British artist Raye, who recently won a record six awards at the Brit Awards. Carpenter, one of the summer’s breakout stars with her hit Please Please Please, rounded out the nominees in this category. While Taylor Swift ultimately won Best Artist, Carpenter's song Espresso took the Best Song award, surpassing Birds of a Feather by Eilish, Texas Hold 'Em by Beyoncé, Beautiful Things by Benson Boone, Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan, and We Can't Be Friends by Ariana Grande.

As with the Grammy Awards in the United States, Latino artists such as Puerto Rican Bad Bunny and Colombian Karol G were overlooked in the top categories despite their global success. However, both were nominated in the Best Latin category, alongside Shakira, who has revitalized her career with the hit Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53, inspired by her separation from former footballer Gerard Piqué. Other notable winners in Manchester included Lisa from the hugely popular K-pop group Blackpink, Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Liam Gallagher. Additionally, Busta Rhymes was honored with the Global Icon Award.
