Dozens were killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon on Sunday, including Hezbollah official Ahmad Amhaz, who succumbed to severe injuries from an airstrike on Aalmat in the Jbeil district.
The attack on Aalmat resulted in significant civilian casualties, with Lebanon's Ministry of Health reporting 23 dead and six wounded, some critically. Among the victims were displaced members of the Qarsifi, Abdul Hussein and Zreiq families from Hosh al-Rafiqa in Baalbeck.
In the afternoon, Israeli warplanes broke the sound barrier over various regions, including Beirut, Jbeil, Chouf and Saida.
The Beqaa region
The Beqaa region witnessed a series of violent airstrikes, leaving dozens dead and injured.
Four people were killed and one injured in a raid on Zaghrin in Hermel. The Israeli army also created a “fire belt” in Western Beqaa, targeting Labbaya, Sohmor and Mashghara with airstrikes.
The strike on Mashghara killed three and injured two, while in Sohmor, one person was killed and four were wounded.
Local stations reported the use of heavy vacuum missiles in these attacks. Additional strikes in Rasm al-Hadath and Mazraat Sujud resulted in more casualties.
Three were killed, and six were injured in an Israeli raid on Baadnayel, while an attack near Sarein and Halaniyeh caused another civilian casualty.
Southern Lebanon
In southern Lebanon, Israeli aircraft struck a Civil Defense center in Deir Qanoun Ras al-Ain, killing 17, including the son of Amal Movement leader Ali Ismail and his brother Mohammad.
Four individuals from the Islamic Health Organization also died. Israeli strikes also hit Bafliya, Adloun, and towns like Marwanieh and Kharayeb, causing several casualties.
A center belonging to the Islamic Health Authority-Civil Defense in Adloun was hit by an airstrike, killing three paramedics.
Hezbollah's retaliation
For its part, Hezbollah targeted Israel’s “Aftal” surveillance site in the Golan and claimed responsibility for rocket attacks on Israeli military sites in Kharbat al-Manara, Zarit, Avivim, Shraga and the Qaba’a highlands near Markaba.
Israel's Channel 12 reported that a building in the Western Galilee town of Shomera was struck by a rocket fired from Lebanon, further escalating tensions along the border.
Israeli Home Front reported the sounding of alarms in western Haifa due to fears of an aircraft infiltration.
