The ongoing war has caused approximately $67 million in damages to the public telecom operator, Ogero, and the mobile phone operators Alfa and Touch, according to a report from the Ministry of Telecommunications.

In a statement, the ministry explained that the study aims to identify the funds needed to support the southern populations who remained in their villages and towns.

It also seeks to secure resources for relief agencies, medical systems and hospitals to maintain communication services, provide internet access for online learning and ensure connectivity in shelters.

The telecom sector asserts that these figures highlight essential needs to guarantee communication and connectivity for both residents in the south and displaced individuals, as well as for the medical and educational sectors.

This report has been submitted to Caretaker Minister of the Environment Nasser Yassin, who is set to present it at the upcoming Paris conference on October 24.
