Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said a drone was launched toward his residence in Caesarea, after the military reported a drone from Lebanon had "hit a structure" in the central town on Saturday.
"A UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) was launched toward the prime minister's residence in Caesarea. The prime minister and his wife were not at the location, and there were no injuries in the incident," Netanyahu's office said in a statement.
It was not immediately clear whether the structure hit as reported earlier by the military was his residence.
In the first comment from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the targeting of his home in Caesarea, he said: “Nothing will deter us and we will continue until the end.”
Israeli Channel 12 quoted a senior Israeli official as saying that “Iran tried to eliminate the Prime Minister of Israel.”
A military source told Israel's Army Radio: “We are investigating the security lapses that allowed a march to reach Netanyahu's home in Caesarea.”
Sirens blared across Israel throughout the morning as Hezbollah fired projectiles from various locations in Lebanon.
The Iran-backed group said it launched a large salvo of advanced rockets at a military base in Israel's Haifa region.
A man in the northern Israeli port city of Acre died after being struck by shrapnel, the Magen David Adom emergency service said, while shrapnel also wounded five people in the Haifa city of Kiryat Ata.
