The Kataeb Party urged Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Najib Mikati to immediately adopt "a clear and explicit stance regarding Hezbollah, in order to secure an immediate ceasefire without external interference."
During a meeting of its political bureau, it also called for the deployment of the Lebanese Army along the border with Israel.
“This deployment would be supported by a firm political decision, international resolutions, and the backing of UNIFIL forces,” the statement reads.
The aim is "to confront Israel, expose it to international public opinion, and strip it of any pretext to continue its aggression and incursion into Lebanese territory."
In its statement, the bureau noted that "official Lebanon cannot remain in a state of mere verbal positions."
It stressed that overcoming the current situation requires two parallel approaches. The first is a security approach that limits arms to legitimate Lebanese forces and prevents any group from acquiring them.
The second is a political approach that calls for a reevaluation of the internal conflict and the restructuring of political authority in Lebanon on new foundations, ensuring equal rights and partnership for all Lebanese under the Constitution and laws, far from the logic of majority and minority.
