The head of the Pharmacists’ Syndicate, Joe Salloum, sounded the alarm “that the remaining stock of medicine, present in the pharmacies and in Lebanon in general, is at risk,” jeopardizing patients’ health.

“It is our duty to shed light on this issue, as we cannot compromise the health of the patients,” he emphasized in an interview with the Voice of Lebanon radio.

According to Salloum, medication must be withdrawn from the hundreds of closed pharmacies in areas whose residents have been displaced to safer places.

“In case closed pharmacies are bombed or destroyed, their stock would be lost,” he stated.

Furthermore, Salloum reassured that medicines are still arriving in Lebanon, “however, there is a shortage of some medications due to the current situation.”

He noted that although “medicines are available in centralized areas, the emergency plan should take into account how to distribute them to danger zones.”
