France announced that it will host an international conference to support Lebanon's population and sovereignty on October 24 in Paris.

Organized at the initiative of the French President and following Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot's recent visit to the Middle East, the conference aims to mobilize global support for Lebanon during its ongoing crisis.

According to a press release by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (Quai d'Orsay), the ministerial-level event will gather representatives from Lebanon's partner states, the United Nations, the European Union, and international, regional and civil society organizations.

It aims “to mobilize the international community to address the urgent protection and humanitarian needs of the Lebanese population and to explore ways to support Lebanon's institutions” with a special emphasis on the Lebanese Armed Forces, which play a key role in maintaining internal stability.

In light of Lebanon's severe political and humanitarian challenges, France will use the conference to call for an immediate end to hostilities and push for a diplomatic solution based on UN Security Council Resolution 1701. This resolution aims to facilitate “the safe return of displaced people to their homes in both Lebanon and Israel.”

France also emphasized the importance of electing a new president in Lebanon, viewing it as a critical step toward restarting the country's political institutions and ensuring long-term stability.
