President and CEO of the American Task Force on Lebanon (ATFL) Ed Gabriel said on Tuesday that he met with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken to discuss the situation in Lebanon.
Gabriel revealed Blinken’s assurance that the US would be providing resources for the Lebanese Armed Forces in terms of equipment and training, as they will play a crucial role in South Lebanon once a ceasefire is achieved. He also added that American-led reconstruction programs will take place in southern Lebanon as soon as the hostilities end.
In this context, Blinken reiterated to Gabriel that the US is at work to find a solution for a ceasefire and insisted on his full endorsement of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and its implementation.
