Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized French President Emmanuel Macron and the leaders of countries calling for a halt in arms deliveries to Israel in the context of the war against the Palestinian Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

"As Israel fights the forces of barbarism led by Iran, all civilized nations should stand firmly with Israel. Yet President Macron and other Western leaders are now calling for arms embargoes against Israel. They should be ashamed," Netanyahu said in a video published by his office.

Earlier in the day, French President Emmanuel Macron had called for a stop to arms deliveries to Israel, which are being used in the conflict in Gaza.

Netanyahu added that the Israeli military had successfully destroyed a large portion of Hezbollah's arsenal and altered the course of the war against the Iranian-backed group.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military claimed on Saturday to have killed 440 Hezbollah fighters since the start of its ground offensive, launched Monday against the Islamist movement in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces are intensifying their bombardments.

“Since the beginning (of the offensive), the (armed) forces have eliminated around 440 terrorists, including 30 commanders of various ranks,” during ground and air operations, said military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari at a press briefing.

The Israeli military announced on Saturday that its forces were on high alert ahead of the anniversary of October 7, stating that militants were seeking to attack "the home front."
