Moawad: The Priority is Ending the War; There's No Room for a 'Compromise President'
Following the tripartite meeting in Ain al-Tineh on Wednesday between Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, former PSP leader Walid Joumblatt, and Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, PSP MP Wael Bou Faour met with Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, Kataeb Party chief Samy Gemayel, and representatives from “Kutlat Tajaddod” to present a “three-point national roadmap” aimed at helping Lebanon navigate the current crisis.

MP Michel Moawad, head of the Independence Movement and speaking on behalf of the "Tajaddod (renewal) Bloc," described the discussion after the meeting with the "Democratic Gathering" as "fruitful," yet remarked that the overall scene remains "incomplete."

“We had an honest exchange regarding the situation in Ain al-Tineh. I shared my thoughts with MP Wael Bou Faour, reiterating my view that the scene is incomplete,” Moawad stated.

He emphasized that "our priority is to stop the war, and this phase cannot accommodate a 'compromise president.’”

"We must advocate for an immediate ceasefire and distinguish between the paths of Lebanon and Gaza, moving away from the notion of support,” he added.

For his part, Abu Faour noted that "Hezbollah had informed Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, prior to the assassination of Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, that they fully entrusted him with the responsibilities of curbing Israeli aggression and electing a president."
