Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri met with various Lebanese officials in Ain el-Tineh on Tuesday amid the dire security situation and an eventual Israeli ground operation in the south.
Berri stressed the urgency of national solidarity, stating, “Our top priority is to protect our people and prevent further military escalation. We must stand united and ensure the safety of the Lebanese from the north to the south.”
Notably absent from the discussions was Samir Geagea, leader of the Lebanese Forces, who declined Berri’s invitation amid rising political tensions. However, Sami Gemayel, leader of the Kataeb Party, is set to meet with Berri tomorrow in Ain el-Tineh.

Berri also met with MP Fouad Makhzoumi to discuss the importance of humanitarian efforts to aid the Lebanese people. Makhzoumi underscored the need for decisive action, saying, “We must engage in honest discussions and make courageous decisions to address property violations in Beirut, protect Lebanese citizens, and stop the ongoing deterioration.”
He stressed the urgency of humanitarian solidarity, calling for the immediate election of a president and a united response to safeguard Lebanon.

Leader of the Free Patriotic Movement MP Gebran Bassil stressed to Berri, “Lebanon faces the real threat of Israeli occupation, and we must elect a president as soon as possible to defend our sovereignty.”
Berri is also scheduled to meet with members of the Renewal Bloc later today to discuss further steps and potential political solutions to the escalating crisis, with a focus on maintaining Lebanon’s internal stability while confronting external threats.
