- Pager Blasts Kill Seven and Wound Fourteen in Syria
Seven people have died as a result of pager explosions in the Sayyida Zaynab Area in Damascus while fourteen were wounded, according to The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-affiliated Saberin News.
Reports had initially surfaced wounded Hezbollah operatives arriving in hospitals in Damascus and its provinces after sustaining injuries from the explosion of the pager devices they were carrying.
"Fourteen people whose nationalities are unknown have been wounded in Damascus and its countryside after pagers used by Hezbollah exploded," the SOHR said. A source close to Hezbollah told AFP that some of its members had been wounded in pager blasts in neighboring Syria, without specifying the number.
In Damascus, a communication device exploded in a car traveling on a road near the Kafr Susah neighborhood. This coincided with the explosion of other devices across Lebanon due to a cyber attack suspectedly caused by Israel, which is the first of its kind to target communication devices used by Hezbollah members in Syria and Lebanon.
