The wave of resignations within the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) has now reached Amin al-Khoury, the party's coordinator in the United Kingdom. Khoury resigned from the FPM’s organizational framework on Sunday.
In his resignation statement, Khoury criticized FPM leader Gebran Bassil, stating that he had failed to manage the party's internal dynamics effectively.
“Instead of fostering unity, Bassil has adopted a mindset of oppression, betrayal and exclusion towards those who, through their hard work, dedication, financial support, time and sacrifice, helped build the Free Patriotic Movement,” the statement read.
Khoury further accused Bassil of humiliating and insulting the foundational members of the FPM.
“I am resigning, along with my family and many comrades in London and Lebanon, from the organizational framework of the Free Patriotic Movement. I will remain a free patriot for Lebanon,” he concluded.
Khoury has been a prominent figure within the movement in London and across Europe for many years.
