A delegation of opposition MPs held talks with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Thursday against the backdrop of the recent armed escalation between Hezbollah and Israel.
After the meeting, MP Marc Daou emphasized that “the only solution to the crisis is the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701,” underscoring the need to align Lebanon with international legitimacy.
Daou, who spoke on behalf of the MPs, urged Mikati to revive the parliament’s role as a legitimate institution and to enhance coordination within the government.
He also called for justice for the victims of the August 4 Beirut port explosion, on the eve of the fourth commemoration of this tragedy.
The delegation included MPs Michel Moawad, Georges Okaïs, Michel Douaihy, and Adib Abdel Massih, along with former minister Alain Hakim.
