"Palestinian children are slaughtered every day by the Tel Aviv butcher, and in the face of all these crimes, the American government and Congress are welcoming this executioner with applause," said Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani in a post on X.
Hamas also denounced Netanyahu's speech, “Netanyahu’s remarks are pure lies and misleading to the Israeli, US, and global public opinion.”
“Israel is leading a brutal war aimed at exterminating our Palestinian people in Gaza, in which all international laws, norms and humanitarian treaties designed to protect civilians are being violated, in a manner that has no parallel in modern history.”
The address also faced domestic criticism with Jewish protestors occupying part of the Capitol building, and many Democrat congresspeople boycotting the speech.
Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House, posting on X, said that Netanyahu's address was "the worst presentation of any foreign dignitary invited and honored with the privilege of addressing the Congress of the United States."
"These families are asking for a ceasefire deal that will bring the hostages home – and we hope the Prime Minister would spend his time achieving that goal."
