This summer, the sky over IXSIR will be filled with music and legends with Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, an orchestral theatrical concert taking place on August 10 and 11, 2024, amidst the vineyards of the Domaine d’IXSIR.
Conducted by Maestro Harout Fazlian, who also conceived the show and crafted original arrangements for chamber orchestra with the introduction of oriental instruments, this event promises a unique experience.
The concert will feature an exceptional performance by a virtuoso qanun player from Armenia accompanied by a chamber orchestra composed of Lebanese and international musicians. The captivating narration by Jana Abi-Ghosn and Jalal Al Shaar, two rising stars of the Lebanese theater scene, will bring to life the adventures of the legendary heroes from One Thousand and One Nights, based on an original script by the esteemed poet Henri Zoghaib.
Rimsky-Korsakov's masterpiece was created in Russia in 1888, during a period when the fascination with oriental exoticism, known as Orientalism, swept across Europe, influencing all artistic disciplines. At the time, the Russian Empire extended its reach to the edges of the Caucasus and Central Asia, inspiring Russian artists, writers and composers with local mythologies, literature, folklore and oral traditions rooted in Turkish and Persian cultures.
Inspired by the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, this magnum opus is structured in four movements, each representing different stories and adventures. It highlights Rimsky-Korsakov's orchestral virtuosity and narrative ability, blending exotic themes and colorful orchestrations to evoke the enchanting world of Scheherazade, a clever and spirited heroine who transforms her fate through the power of imagination and storytelling.
The concert promises an immersive experience where music, narration and the enchanting setting of the IXSIR vineyard come together to transport the audience on a captivating journey through Oriental legends, set against a stunning sunset backdrop.
Enjoy a complimentary wine tasting starting at 7 PM.
Extend your experience with an artistically crafted dinner by Montagnou after the concert, with limited availability.
Tickets available at Virgin Ticketing Box Office.
