At The Gallerist in Sodeco, as part of Beirut Art Days, the special exhibition by Toni Nassif runs until July 11.
Born in Lebanon, Toni Nassif grew up in Beirut before being forced to leave his country during the civil war to settle in Paris, where he completed his architectural studies. As an accomplished architect, he has undertaken projects in Lebanon and internationally.
Despite his devotion to architecture, art has always been his true passion. Toni began painting at the age of five and never really stopped. He was selected for five consecutive years, starting in 1986, at the “Salon d’Automne” of the Sursock Museum.
All his works reflect a vibrant osmosis between art and architecture. The artist indeed brings an artistic touch to our daily lives, sometimes focusing on geometric and linear forms, which he applies with great precision. Every object used in his mixed media compositions reflects its own story and unique meaning.
Visiting the exhibition at The Gallerist is, in a way, entering a world where colors and textures merge in a duet skillfully orchestrated by the architect’s art. For imagination has no limits, and the various media used come to life and shape.
The mastery of visual fusion is an invitation to a journey through the complexity of painting worked in mixed techniques. Each brushstroke tells a story, and each added layer is a new chapter.
In this series of works explored during this solo exhibition, the boundaries between different artistic media blur: acrylics mingle with collage, pastels merge with digital elements, and objects find new life on the canvas.
Each piece thus mastered is an exquisite harmony of diverse materials. The artist’s skill in reappearing them in a personalized and timeless manner creates an atmosphere of creativity that the observer enjoys discovering.
It is a reinvention of the real and an intense visual experience.
From abstract compositions that defy general perception to figurative works that evoke emotion, “The Mastery of Visual Fusion” showcases the versatility and innovation of mixed media art.
It is an experimentation translated by traditional techniques meeting modernity and celebrating the sensitivity of art. This gives birth to works that are both timeless and contemporary.
It is a world of possibilities where imagination proves to have no limits. The elements thus arranged awaken curiosity and give rise to reflection and fantasy.
This artistic visual fusion that the artist pursues is not limited to the images in his paintings but also extends through the titles he proposes, which recall the arts of engineering: Out of Space, The Rear Slope, Up and Down, etc.
He also uses titles loaded with dreams and philosophy, as in the paintings Black Sunrise and Journey Through Time.
Toni Nassif explains. “I always seek to make connections between reality and imagination. This mixture stimulates me to revive the past in the present. There are elements of this fusion in most of my works. Sometimes a watch, a train, or the music of a particular band are my sources of inspiration.”
Through his exhibition, Toni Nassif pushes us to consider new artistic visions and experiment with his creativity, where each canvas holds the power of magic.
