Beirut International Airport (BIA) recorded its highest passenger and flight traffic since the start of the year in June. However, the figure remains below that recorded in June 2023, with a slight annual decline of around 0.25%.
According to figures released by BIA, 707,201 departing and arriving passengers passed through the airport, compared to 708,970 in June 2023. The number of arrivals in Lebanon fell by 5% to 406,396 passengers. The number of departures from Lebanon increased by 7.13% (300,362 passengers), while the number of transit passengers fell by 41% (443 passengers).
Similarly, the number of flights operated by domestic, Arab and foreign airlines using the airport in June increased by 0.3% on an annual basis, reaching 5,509 flights, including 2,751 to Beirut and 2,758 departing from Lebanon.
It should be noted that at the end of June 2024, the total number of passengers who used the airport since the beginning of the year stood at 2,999,965, compared with 3,185,959 passengers during the same period last year, showing a drop of 5.8%.
