Cameron to Mikati: UK Ready to Help Ease Tensions in Lebanon
British Foreign Secretary David Cameron called Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Thursday, expressing the United Kingdom's readiness to engage and assist in efforts to reduce tensions in southern Lebanon.

Cameron and Mikati also discussed bilateral relations and the current situation in Lebanon and the region, aiming to define ways to establish calm, security and stability amid escalating tensions along the Blue Line.

The UK has joined diplomatic efforts led by the United States and France to prevent a war between Lebanon and Israel. Recently, Washington sent its envoy, Amos Hochstein, to the region in hopes of reaching a political solution.
