Two women were killed and 14 injured, overnight Thursday to Friday, in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a three-storey building between the municipalities of Janata and Deir Qanoun Al-Nahr in the Tyre district in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli army confirmed the raid, indicating that it was not aimed at assassinating a Hezbollah official who was present in the building at the time of the raid, but it rather targeted a Hezbollah headquarters.
Hezbollah sources have denied reports that circulated in the media following that raid, about the assassination of one of the most senior party officials.
The deadly strike occurred in the Tyre area, some 21 kilometers in a straight line from the nearest border point. The targeted area is the closest to the banks of the Litani River and falls under Resolution 1701.
Israeli attacks continue to target southern towns and villages. In the latest security developments, the outskirts of Deir Mimas and Kfar Kila were subjected to artillery shelling on Friday morning. Hezbollah announced that it had targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers in Khillet Warde with rocket weapons.
Moreover, the news media Al Jazeera reported that a rocket was launched towards the Israeli site of Al-Samaqah in the occupied hills of Kfarchouba, and that six other rockets were launched towards an Israeli site in the occupied Shebaa Farms.
