Athletism: Medals for Mark Anthony Ibrahim and Tamer Saleh in Egypt

Lebanon won four medals at the Mediterranean Athletics Championships for Under-23 athletics held in Alexandria (Egypt) in a new achievement for Lebanese athletics. Many Mediterranean countries participated in the championship, including France, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece and Slovenia.

The delegation was headed by the Secretary General of the Lebanese Athletics Federation and member of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Federation Wassim al-Houli. International sprinter Mark Anthony Ibrahim won a gold medal in the 400m hurdles with a time of 49.49 seconds, setting a new record in the Mediterranean Championship. Ibrahim also won a second gold medal in the 400m with a time of 46.92 seconds, setting a national record.


Ibrahim earned 45 points, boosting his chances of qualifying for the Summer Olympics, which will be held in Paris, France, between July 26 and August 11.

In the same championship, international sprinter Tamer Saleh also collected two bronze medals in the 100m (10.56 seconds) and 200m (21.27 seconds) hurdles. International runner Maysa Mouawad finished sixth in the 100m (11.93 seconds) and fourth in the 200m (24.55 seconds).
