Basketball: Surprise Resignation of the National Team's Coach
Jad el Hajj has tendered his resignation as coach of the Lebanese national basketball team, citing personal reasons and commitments elsewhere. The decision came as a surprise to many fans and experts, especially in the run-up to qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The president of the National Basketball Teams Committee, Maroun Gebrael, confirmed the resignation of Lebanese national team coach Jad el-Hajj. Gebrael said on the Arab Sports page, “We were informed on Saturday in writing of Jad el Hajj's decision to leave his post for personal reasons and due to other commitments. He wished us good luck.”

The news took many basketball fans by surprise, especially as the resignation comes in the midst of the national team's preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.


Gebrael added, “Although surprised, we cannot object to his plans and the offers he has received. We therefore wish him the best of luck.”

Regarding the selection of the next coach, Gebrael said, “The National Teams Committee will meet soon to discuss potential candidates and will submit its recommendations to the Lebanese Basketball Federation, which will then take appropriate action.”
