Tonight, Thursday, April 25, the Riyadi club is set to face the Gorgan team (Iran) in the finals of the WASL (West Asia) competition at 8:30 PM at the Nohad Nawfal stadium in Zouk Mikael. Top of the Lebanese league standings, Riyadi are ready to take on the Iranian club. This match comes just a few days before the semi-finals of the local league, which will pit Riyadi against Homenetmen and Sagesse against Beirut Club.
This grand final will be played over three matches, with home advantage for the Lebanese club. The team that wins two of the three matches will be crowned champions of the WASL tournament.
As for Sagesse, they took third place last Wednesday against al-Shorta al-Iraqi with a score of 116-66 for Jad el-Hajj's men. It was an important match for the Ghazir Greens, who faced their former coach Ghassan Sarkis, now at the Iraqi club.
Sagesse’s third place finish, along with Riyadi and Gorgan's qualification for the final, propels all three into the Final 8 of the WASL Super League, a larger tournament involving teams from West Asia, the Gulf and champions India and Kazakhstan.
Exact dates for the Final 8 have not yet been set.
