Multiple Records at Lebanese Swimming Championships

The Lebanese Swimming Federation organized the Lebanese Championships for age groups (8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-17, and 18 years and above – men and women) in a 25-meter pool for the year 2024 at Collège Notre-Dame de Jamhour over a period of three days, with the participation of 423 swimmers representing 22 clubs and associations, including: Al Jazeera, Al Najah, Mont La Salle, CND Jamhour, Al Ahed, Forbie, Acqua Marina, Automobile et Touring Club du Liban, Orca, Mtayleb, Safra Marine, La Colina, Al Palma, Decathlon, Al Louize, Goldeno 1875, Al Fajer, Spring Hills, Belle Horizon, and the Army. The competitions took place in the presence of a large audience, including members of the federation, presidents and delegates of participating clubs. The following technical results were recorded, with a total of 23 club records being established (9 for Al Najah Club, 6 for Al Jamhour Club, 5 for Mtayleb Club and 3 for Al Jazeera Club).

Lebanese champion Lucas Slaiman, representing Al Jamhour Club, won the Lebanese championship for under 14s in the 200-meter freestyle and 400-meter freestyle, breaking both previous records. He clocked a time of 1 minute 58 seconds 94 hundredths in the 200 meters, 7 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, who recorded a time of 2 minutes 7 seconds 87 hundredths. In the 400 meters, Slaiman clocked a time of 4 minutes 11 seconds 51 hundredths, surpassing his nearest competitor by 30 seconds.

Karen Ibrahim, representing Mtayleb Club, broke records for under 15s in the 400-meter IM (individual medley, in which swimmers use all four competitive strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, in that order) and 800-meter freestyle, registering 5 minutes 9 seconds and 88 hundredths in the 400 meters, with a lead of 31 seconds over her closest rival. In the 800-meter freestyle, Ibrahim recorded 9 minutes 17 seconds and 32 hundredths, surpassing her nearest competitor by 15 seconds.


The task of officiating was entrusted to a team of international, Asian and federal referees under the chairmanship of the chairman of the referees' committee, international referee Sacha Azar, as well as international referees Suzanne Moubayed, Antoinette Doueihy, and Asian and federal referees.

Finally, the federation's treasurer, Ahmad Zaarour, as well as members Roula Al-Khatib, Georges Jalkh and Georges Habayeb, took charge of distributing medals and trophies to the winners.
