EU foreign ministers have reached an agreement to expand sanctions on Iran targeting its drone and missile programs, including their transfer to proxies.
The sanctions will be imposed on individuals and entities involved in supplying Iranian missiles and drones to terrorist organizations supporting the regime, according to top EU diplomat Josep Borrell.
“We have reached a political agreement,” announced EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell at the end of the meeting.
The freshly issued sanctions aim to halt the export from the EU, of parts used in the productions of drones and ballistic missiles.
Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Israel Katz praised the EU for its decision, saying it is "a dramatic decision that sends a clear message to Khamenei, we will not allow you to undermine regional stability," according to a statement issued by his office.
Katz also posted on X in Farsi that "this is what a diplomatic defeat looks like — and it’s only the beginning."
