Finance: Tax Deadlines Extended
Caretaker Minister of Finance Youssef Khalil issued two decisions on Friday, extending payment deadlines for certain taxes. This gives taxpayers more time to pay and avoid late payment fines.

The deadline for filing returns for the first quarter of 2024 on amounts taxable under Articles 41 and 42 of the Income Tax Act has been extended to April 30, 2024.

The deadline for submitting tax stamp duty returns for March 2024 has been extended to May 15, 2024.

Khalil issued a third decision concerning the exemption of certain fines.

Consequently, taxpayers who have previously carried out share transfer operations subject to the provisions of Article 39 will benefit from a grace period, expiring on May 21, 2024, to declare and pay taxes without fines.

Earlier this morning, Khalil highlighted, in a press release, that the deadline for submitting the annual return for income tax on salaries and wages (R5), individual annual statements (R6), and global annual statements (R7) for the year 2022, along with any due tax payments, was April 30, 2024. Taxpayers are strongly encouraged to adhere to this deadline to steer clear of incurring penalties for late payments.
