Basketball: Beirut Club on Course for the Semi-Finals

Beirut Club continue their winning ways after securing a place among the league's top four teams. After their first match win over Club Antonin Sportif (CAS) on April 8 with an impressive score of 98-65, Beirut Club again beat the Antonins on Monday in a closer match that ended 87-71 in favor of the capital club, thus securing their place in the semi-finals.
Starting Line-Ups
Joe Ghattas, known as "Gattuso," kicked off with a classic starting five comprising Dar Tucker, Ali Haidar, Tyree Corbet, Ali Mezher, and Sergio Darwiche. Meanwhile, Club Antonin Sportif (CAS) had to do without their regular starter, Montero, who was ill, according to coach Ralph Akl. He therefore fielded Brian Mansour, Jordan Davis, Anthony Assi, Ed Daniel, and Marc Aby Khers.
A Tight First Half
Both teams looked far from their usual best in the first half. Beirut Club took the lead for most of the period, making things difficult for CAS. After a bitter start, CAS had to call on Loufi, Elio Basil, and Elie Badran when the score was 16-24. These players managed to pick up the pace and were able to equalize with the capital club in the second quarter, ending the half with a score of 49-44 in favor of Beirut Club.

Jordan Davis, the Iron Man
Jordan Davis, despite the end of his season, was undoubtedly the mainstay of CAS this season, alongside Brian Mansour. He contributed greatly to his team throughout the season, even being the player to score the most points in a league game of any team this season, with an impressive total of 41 points. He finished that game with 33 points and 7 rebounds, making him the top scorer for both teams, followed by Brian Mansour with 18 points. On the Beirut side, it was Corbet who was the top scorer with 15 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Darwiche with 14 points and 6 rebounds.
The Last Four
Having qualified for the semi-finals, Beirut Club joined Al Riyadi and Hommetmen in the semi-finals, pending the outcome of the match between Sagesse and Antranik. Sagesse are currently leading the series 1-0 with a score of 114-79 and need only a second win to qualify for the semi-finals.
Beirut Club seem determined to continue their winning streak and make their way to the top of the league as the competition enters its decisive phase.
