Rush of Crowds at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport Amidst Regional Tensions
Following the reopening of Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport at 7:00 am on Sunday, April 14, 2024, heavy traffic and crowds were observed. This influx occurred after Lebanese airspace had been temporarily closed from 1:00 am due to regional tensions following the escalations between Israel and Iran. Despite the closure, operations resumed as normal after 7:00 am. However, Middle East Airlines postponed most of its Sunday morning flights, except for certain departures scheduled for 9:00 am, causing further congestion at the airport.
