Israel Announces 'New Phase' in Preparation for War in Lebanon
The Israeli Army claimed on Sunday to have completed a “new phase” in its preparations for war in Lebanon, where deadly exchanges of fire with Hezbollah are intensifying.

In its statement, “Preparing for the transition from defense to attack,” published on its website, the Israeli Army said it had “completed in recent days a new phase in the preparation of the northern command for war.”

According to the statement, these logistical measures “will enable reserve forces to be mobilized immediately in the event of an emergency and to arrive at the front line in no time at all with all the equipment required for combat.”

Its command, said the Israeli Army, will be able “to summon and equip all the soldiers it needs within a few hours and transport them to the front line for defensive and offensive missions.”

At least 359 people have been killed in Lebanon in cross-border violence for nearly six months, mainly Hezbollah fighters, including at least 70 civilians, in addition to 18 people in Israel, ten soldiers and eight civilians, according to an AFP count.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Sunday that the Army had “completed its preparations to react to any scenario that might develop against Iran.”
