Salam in Washington
The Caretaker Minister of Economy, Amin Salam, set off for Washington on Saturday to participate in the annual spring meetings of the World Bank (WB) at its headquarters.

Salam's itinerary includes a series of meetings with key figures in the US administration, spanning across various departments such as the Departments of State, Treasury, Commerce, and Justice, along with engagements with senators.

The agenda is set to address the WB's overarching program in Lebanon, with a specific focus on food security, social safety nets, and energy initiatives. Discussions will center on bolstering support for Lebanon's Emergency Social Safety Net project and the Green Agri-Food Transformation for Economic Recovery (GATE) project, both endorsed by the World Bank last year.

Salam holds optimism for favorable outcomes from these meetings, recognizing their importance in reinforcing the support extended by the international community and the World Bank to Lebanon. These efforts aim to mitigate endemic poverty and provide assistance to the most vulnerable families in the nation.
