The Cabinet approved on Thursday an increase of the minimum wage in the private sector to 18 million Lebanese pounds, as well as a 100% increase in school allowances.
Thus, the minimum wage rises from 9 to 18 million pounds, fully declared to Social Security and integrated into the basic salary. With regard to school allowances, for the children of employees attending public schools, the amount per pupil (up to four) is now 4 million Lebanese pounds, while for those enrolled in private schools, this allowance will rise from 6 million to 12 million for the 2024-2025 school year.
Chaired by caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the Grand Serail in the presence of 15 ministers, the Cabinet also approved an advance of 880 billion Lebanese pounds to Ogero, Lebanon’s public telephone and Internet provider, for a three-month salary increase.
