Mikati Calls for a Cabinet Meeting on Thursday
The Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Judge Mahmoud Makkiyeh, announced that caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called a cabinet meeting on Thursday April 4, at 11:30 am, with 21 items on the agenda.

The last cabinet meeting was held at the Grand Serail on March 19. At that meeting, the Cabinet had postponed the appointment of 234 customs inspectors, one of the main items on the agenda. This dossier had been at the heart of a political controversy, due to a question of sectarian imbalance.

Mikati said he was "ready to carry out structural reforms". In his view, the delay was due to a lack of political consensus.
