MOFA Condemns Israeli Strike in Damascus
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates (MOFA) condemned the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus on Monday, fearing that this dangerous escalation inevitably threatens regional and international peace and security.

On Monday, Israeli air strikes destroyed the Iranian embassy’s consular annex in Damascus, Syrian and Iranian officials said, with a top Revolutionary Guard commander, Mohammad Reza Zahedi, among seven members the force said were killed.

The ministry stressed in a statement its condemnation of targeting diplomatic headquarters and missions, considering it a violation of international law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic and Consular Relations, which guarantees the immunity and inviolability of diplomatic headquarters.

For its part, the pro-Iranian group, Hezbollah, mourned in a statement the death of Zahedi alongside several members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, adding that "the attack will not pass without revenge."
