Mikati: Dialogue Is Lebanon’s Only Option
Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati called for dialogue for Lebanon to recover from its crises.

“As Michel Chiha put it, Lebanon, unique in its pluralism and its representation of diverse political ideologies and communities, has no choice but to follow the path of constructive dialogue, mutual respect and tolerance. This represents harmony within the framework of difference,” Mikati said, asserting that he is “more committed than ever to these principles,” particularly in the light of the multidimensional crisis plaguing the country.

Mikati spoke on Wednesday at the Grand Serail during a ceremony celebrating International Francophonie Day on March 20, in the presence of many prominent figures.

Commenting on the regional situation and Israeli attacks on Lebanon, Mikati said that “resorting to humanitarian values, such as those represented by the Francophonie, is the only way to save us from moral and ethical decadence.”

He affirmed Lebanon’s determination “to live and not to surrender.”
