International Table Tennis Tournament Kicks Off in Beirut
The inaugural international table tennis tournament, organized by the Lebanese Table Tennis Federation and overseen by the International Federation, kicked off with a flurry of matches at al-Kawthar Secondary School in Beirut. Day one saw enthusiastic crowds witnessing thrilling encounters on eight tables.

Among the notable attendees were Dr. Pierre Jalkh, President of the Olympic Committee, Raffi Mamougolian, Vice President of the Table Tennis Federation, and other dignitaries. The Lebanese Table Tennis Federation's President, Georges Khouli, gave them a warm welcome.

Here are the highlights of day one:

Men's Singles - Round of 64:

- Ioannis Sgouropoulos (Greece) defeated Olajide Omotayo (Nigeria) (3-1)

- Youssef Ben Attia (Tunisia) defeated Ghaleb Fahs (Lebanon) (3-1)

- Ibrahim Gündüz (Turkey) defeated Ibrahim Gibran (Yemen) (3-0)

- Navid Shams (Iran) defeated Martin Allegro (Belarus) (3-1)

And several other matches.


Women's Singles - Round of 64:

- Nathalie Marchetti (Belgium) defeated Sarvenaz Mirzakaderova (Kazakhstan) (3-1)

- Rozalina Khadjieva (Uzbekistan) defeated Talia Azar (Lebanon) (3-0)

- Farida Badawi (Egypt) defeated Aray Ashkeyeva (Kazakhstan) (3-0)

- Roy Krittwika (India) defeated Hala Damaj (Lebanon) (3-0)

And several other matches.

The tournament boasts 250 players from 42 countries worldwide, all vying for victory and a share of the $22,500 prize pool.

Matches resume on Thursday at 10:00 AM, with a break from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, followed by evening sessions until 9:00 PM. The tournament's first round will conclude with the finals.

Following the conclusion of the first tournament, the second international tournament for both men and women will begin on Friday, March 22.
