Newly Formed Israeli Brigade Bound for Lebanon-Syria Borders

As part of the operational response to the situation on the northern border of Israel, the Israeli army established the "Heharim" (The Mountains) Brigade to operate on the Lebanon-Syria border.

The brigade will operate as part of the 210th Division and defend the Mount Dov and Mount Hermon, replacing of the 810th Hermon Brigade.

Its main attributes will be specializing in warfare in mountainous areas and difficult terrain.


Following joint efforts of various Israeli army bodies and an analysis of its operational wartime needs , the "Heharim" Brigade will become active in the coming weeks.

"The establishment of the brigade will provide a high-quality operational response and enable preparation for both defensive and offensive measures in a variety of scenarios that correspond to the terrain and the enemy in the region, on both fronts simultaneously — Lebanon and Syria," read a statement by Commanding Officer of the 210th Division Brigadier Zion Ratzon.

Colonel Liron Appleman was appointed as the commander of this brigade.
