Israeli Foreign Ministry Spokesman: No Desire for War in Lebanon
Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Haiat emphasized that Israel does not want to engage in war with Lebanon.

"Since Hezbollah began its attacks, we have declared and stated more than once that we do not want to expand the circle of war from Gaza to Lebanon," Haiat said.

"Our only demand is the implementation of UN Resolution 1701, and we are ready to resume the tripartite meetings in Naqoura and we have no issue with any solution related to peace," he added.

On Israel's position on the French proposal to settle border disputes with Lebanon, Haiat explained that "the land borders are internationally agreed upon between Israel and Lebanon, there are no raids by Israel or by Lebanon on the borders, but unfortunately there is Hezbollah inside Lebanon, which has many weapons and many fighters and gives instructions to the Lebanese state."

"Hezbollah in turn is supported by Iran and this is a big issue for the Lebanese people, we don't want to expand the war, the Lebanese people and the Lebanese state are in trouble economically, and with the war, the situation will be harder and harder," he stated.
