Caretaker Finance Minister Youssef Khalil signed a decision on Friday to grant temporary compensation to all active and retired civil servants, as outlined in Decree 13020. The amounts set to be calculated with retroactive effect will be disbursed during the last week of March, precisely starting from March 22, 2024.
It is worth noting that the Council of Ministers approved, on February 28, salary increases for civil servants, ranging from a minimum of $400 to a maximum of $1,200. This measure is retroactive from January 1, and salaries will be paid in USD.
Khalil conducted an administrative meeting on Friday during which he briefed his team on the developments that followed the suspension of the strike in the Ministry. He commended the efforts of all directorates in ensuring the timely payment of salaries and pensions to civil servants, military personnel and pensioners within a few days.
