US envoy Amos Hochstein met with Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) Commander-in-Chief General Joseph Aoun Monday afternoon in Yarzeh.
Hochstein highlighted the pivotal role of the Lebanese army, especially considering the war in Gaza and the confrontations on the southern Lebanese front. The US envoy insisted that the LAF’s function in the coming phase is decisive both internally and on the border as the only constitutional, legal and legitimate military institution.
According to information obtained by This Is Beirut, Hochstein stressed the fact that any roadmap that focuses on the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 is intrinsically linked to the Lebanese Army.
