Bishop Audi Denounces Hezb's Unilateral Decisions
The Metropolitan of Beirut, Bishop Elias Audi, denounced on Sunday "the unilateral decisions taken by a section of the Lebanese," in reference to the war waged by Hezbollah against Israel in southern Lebanon since October 8, in support of Hamas in its war against the Hebrew state in Gaza.

Warning against the risk of the war spreading to Lebanon, Bishop Audi noted in his Sunday homily that the country "finds itself facing a criminal enemy" that nothing can deter. In view of what is happening in Gaza, "isn't it wiser to prevent Lebanon from slipping into a similar situation?" asked Audi.

"Think of Lebanon's interests," insisted Bishop Audi. "The interests of Lebanon and its people take precedence over any other interest." He wondered, "Is it possible for a section of the Lebanese to take unilateral decisions that the Lebanese as a whole do not approve of, and which are detrimental to their interests? Does this same party accept that another part of the population should take the initiative to carry out actions that would drag everyone into the torments of a conflict, for which all would pay the price? Where is the State?"

The Metropolitan also called on political leaders and officials, as well as the people, to "show solidarity in the interests" of Lebanon. In this respect, he insisted on the need to elect a President of the Republic, as the first step in the process of saving the country.

In conclusion, Bishop Audi invited all Lebanese to "return to the fold" of the country.
