Lebanon's Imad Nasri Lahoud has been appointed Chairman of the Rally Commission, one of the most important commissions within the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), following a proposal by the Federation's President, Mohammed bin Sulayem. The decision to appoint Lahoud was taken by the Federation's Council for a two-year term.
It should be noted that Lahoud has been a member of the board of directors of the Automobile and Touring Club of Lebanon (ATCL). He is also the club's motorsport coordinator and the FIA's official representative in Lebanon. Aged 46, Lahoud is very active and maintains close relations with FIA officials and automobile clubs worldwide. He was previously Chairman of the FIA Hillclimb Commission for several years.
The appointment of Lahoud, the first Arab to occupy this important post, is seen as proof of his administrative competence in the tasks previously assigned to him and of his in-depth knowledge of the world of motorsports.
