Renowned veteran Lebanese journalist Camille Menassa passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with illness. He was 88.
Menassa is known for his roles as the director of news and political programs at Lebanon’s official TV, TeleLiban, from 1960 to 1971, and as Middle East correspondent for French radio and television from 1960 to 1964.
In later years, he corresponded with Radio Monte Carlo and managed the Media Press Company, which was responsible for advertisement in dailies An Nahar and L'Orient Le Jour (1971-1973).
He chaired the International Advertising Organization, Beirut Branch, from 1980-1983 and taught for several years at the faculties of Media and Business Administration at the Lebanese University (LU). He was also chairman and general manager of the L'Orient Le Jour’s publishing house for 22 years since 1981, and managing director of the French-language newspaper from 1973 to 2003.
