Civil servants from the Ministries of Labor, Economy and Information will be on strike starting Wednesday in support of their wage demands.
They are protesting against the fact that they have been excluded from the allowances that the government plans to grant to certain categories of civil servants.
A delegation from the syndicate representing employees of the Ministry of Information (Télé Liban, Radio-Liban and the National News Agency) visited the caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Makary, and the Ministry's Director General, Hassan Falha, to voice their grievances and protest.
In a press release, the syndicate stressed that "despite the difficult living conditions, precarious health, and risks associated with covering the Israeli attacks in South Lebanon, "the employees of the Ministry of Information and its various entities continued to work tirelessly."
"The employees feel aggrieved after finding that other departments benefited from financial sums under an advance approved by the Council of Ministers and that they have been excluded," according to the text.
Ministry of Labor employees, who also announced a work stoppage, say that they refuse to allow their demands to be "watered down."
They condemned the discrimination established between civil servants, "which will inevitably deal a heavy blow to the public sector."
In this context, the employees called on the caretaker Minister of Labor, Moustafa Bayram, to boycott Cabinet sessions until a session devoted to approving the demands and rights of civil servants is set
