Wadi Khaled Totally Flooded Due to Torrential Rains
The towns of Wadi Khaled and Akroum in Akkar were hit by torrential floods on Friday night after heavy rain caused the nearby river to inundate the area.

Akkar MP Mohammed Sleiman contacted Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities Bassam al-Mawlawi, demanding the immediate dispatch of relief teams and civil defense teams to assist the residents of the villages.

Mawlawi affirmed his follow-up on the incident and instructed the relevant Civil Defense and Red Cross teams to intervene and assist the families who needed to be evacuated and the people stuck in their cars.

First-aiders from both institutions quickly moved to rescue those stranded in their vehicles as the roads were submerged.

The northern and northeastern regions of Akkar Governorate have been experiencing continuous thunderstorms and torrential rains since 3:00 PM.

In this context, the mayor of Al-Amayr-Wadi Khaled, Sheikh Ahmed al-Sheikh, issued a "distress call" to the government's presidency in a voice message, requesting "immediate assistance for the people of Wadi Khaled.”

“There are calls for help from more than one house, where residents have climbed to higher floors to escape the rising water. So, we request assistance," he pleaded.
