Saudi-Iranian Truce in Lebanon… For the Time Being
According to informed Arab sources, Saudi-Iranian communication has resulted in a political “truce” on the Lebanese scene for the time being and under the current regional situation. However, opposition circles are skeptical that such a truce could be beneficial or sustainable since “Iran’s arms” in the region are put on hold, awaiting developments. As such, Iran is still holding on to all its cards in the so-called "Moumanaa axis," or "Axis of Resistance" in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Gaza and will not compromise or concede any of them, especially when it comes to Lebanon and the presidential issue.

Tehran’s stance is clearly reflected in the Shiite duo’s (Hezbollah-Amal) insistence on holding a dialogue before the presidential election, as relayed to the Maronite Patriarchate in Bkerke and some political forces. In reaction, the anti-Hezbollah opposition camp reiterated its rejection of dialogue and adherence to the implementation of the Constitution: holding an open-ended election session with successive voting rounds until a president is elected.

According to information relayed by a politician in the "Axis of Resistance," matters will be resolved in Lebanon and the region after the US elections. In Iran's opinion, Washington is not in a rush to resolve matters in the region as it is believed that a comprehensive settlement would be a package that includes Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
