Lebanon recorded the second-highest inflation rate in the world, rising from 70% to 192% over the course of 2023, according to a study conducted by Russia's Novosti agency, based on data from the national statistical services of 193 UN member states.
Argentina tops the list of countries with the highest inflation rate in 2023 (211%), followed by Lebanon (192%), Venezuela (190%) and Turkey (65%).
The study indicates that the inflation rate exceeded 30% at the end of the year in several countries, including Iran (40%), Malawi (35%), Egypt (34%), Suriname (33%) and Cuba (31%).
Iceland tops the list of European countries with the highest inflation rate at 7.7%, and Italy comes last with an inflation rate of 0.7%.
Half the countries in the world recorded a rise in prices that exceeds 4.2%.
