The leader of the Lebanese Forces (LF), Samir Geagea, received the new US Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa A. Johnson, in Meerab on Tuesday in a first official introductory visit after assuming her post.
The meeting focused on Lebanese and regional developments as well as the presidential file.
"We have a constitution and real institutions in Lebanon, and our main task is to reactivate these institutions and lift the grip of obstruction on them," Geagea said.
He pointed out that "the Lebanese people only ask the international community to help them stop the obstruction and bring the institutions back to life, starting with Parliament."
The LF leader considered that "the main approach to the solution lies in reopening the doors of the Parliament to real and effective presidential election sessions, not just symbolic ones as has happened so far, and calling on the members of Parliament to fulfill their constitutional duty in consecutive sessions of elections."
Geagea, who wished Ambassador Johnson every success in her new mission, thanked the United States of America, its administration, institutions and people for their support to Lebanon and its institutions.
