French Peacekeepers: Donations for Alma al-Shaab Firefighters
The French contingent of the Force Commander Reserve (FCR) donated on January 18, 2024, equipment to the firefighters in Alma al-Shaab, a village in southern Lebanon.

As part of the FCR's civil-military cooperation (CIMIC-Civil Military Cooperation), French peacekeepers donated personal protective equipment (fire suits) and automotive equipment (mechanical parts for emergency vehicles) to Lebanese Civil Defense teams.

They also installed solar panels and set up a 100KVA generator, restoring the power supply needed by the 80 or so remaining inhabitants of the village. The latter had lived for several weeks without electricity or running water due to damage caused by Israeli bombardments.

Hostilities between Hezbollah and the Israeli Army began at the southern border on October 8, the day after the outbreak of war in Gaza.

This operation was made possible by the installation of a security system around the village by French peacekeepers.
