The press office of the Ministry of Finance announced on Friday that the cadastral and land administration offices will reopen their doors on Monday, as per the request of the Caretaker Minister of Finance, Youssef el-Khalil.
Initially, they will process the accumulated requests and transactions from the past months. Once this work is completed, new formalities and requests will be accepted. The date for submitting these will be announced soon.
The services of the cadastre in Mount Lebanon have been closed since October 2022, due to legal proceedings against 124 employees of these services on charges of corruption and allegations of bribery. Over 50,000 real estate registration formalities are pending, representing a significant loss for the public treasury.
It's worth noting that the services of the cadastre in Mount Lebanon include those in Baabda, Aley, Metn, Chouf, Jounieh, and Jbeil.
